because of network designers and engineers. At its simplest level,
this field strives to transmit information from one computer to another.
On a grander scale, businesses can reach unlimited numbers of computers
with the same information due to the involvement of network designers.
Role: Computer network administrators design, install, and
manage computer networks for businesses and organizations. In addition,
professionals in this field work with local area networks (LAN), wide
area networks (WAN), and wireless networks among others. Familiarity
with certain software and an understanding of online security issues
are helpful assets for positions such as these.
Qualifications: Though not required, a Bachelor's degree
is highly advantageous for a career in network design and engineering.
Specialized certificates and applicable training are also highly sought
after.
